Major Cybersecurity Breaches (December 2025)

Rainbow Six Siege Mass Cybersecurity Breach (Dec 27–28, 2025)

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege servers were forced offline after a major security breach allowed hackers to take control of the game’s backend systems. Attackers were able to:

• Grant players billions of in-game credits and rare/ultra-exclusive skins without authorization.

• Randomly ban and unban accounts, including high-profile and official ones.

• Cause widespread system chaos and loss of control over services.

Ubisoft has not fully explained the cause but advised players to stay offline and change passwords as the company investigates and works to regain control.

France National Postal Service Cyberattack (Dec 2025)

A pro-Russian hacking group, Noname057(16) has claimed responsibility for a major cyberattack that disrupted France’s national postal service, La Poste, during the busy Christmas period. The attack disabled key systems, preventing workers from tracking packages and customers from using online payment services. French prosecutors say the domestic intelligence agency (DGSI) has taken over the investigation. The incident highlights growing concerns over nation-state cyber threats against critical infrastructure amidst geopolitical tensions.
